One of my group members asked me to help him out in installation of his printer as he was unable to install his printer and was getting print spooler service error. I thought to share the print spooler service error fix along with you guys too. I am mentioning my members help request and my solution below.

"HI Friend

I am using windows xp sp3 but today suddenly I have lost my installed Printer (I am using HP 6L Printer). When I want to add printer, there is message coming in front of me. " The printer spooler service is not running"
Could I resolve this problem without installing a fresh windows?"

Solution

The basic function of print spooler service is to load files to memory for printing i.e. you need this to print stuff.

Now to fix Print Spooler Service Error go to

Start> Run > CMD and press enter, then type 'net start spooler'

for further trouble shooting as to why it is not auto running, go to

Start> Control Panel (in classic veiw) > administrative tools > services

in there you will find print spooler, make sure that service is set to automatically run, you can also start the service from there and if it can't run it will give you the error as to why.

This tutorial will show you how to make an image look like it’s half-sketched. It’s a really easy effect using photo shop.

Select your object and extract it to its own layer with [Ctrl + Shift + J].

Duplicate that layer again with [Ctrl + J].

Go to [Filter > Stylize > Find Edges]. Press [Ctrl + Shift + U] to desaturate the layer.

Bring up the Levels dialog with [Ctrl + L] and adjust the sliders until you get the detail you want.

Add a Layer Mask with the button at the bottom of the Layers palette, or with [Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All]. With the Layer Mask selected, choose the Gradient Tool [G].
Drag the gradient over your image to make some parts of the mask visible.

You can repeat the gradient until you get the effect you want.

That’s about it. You can get creative with the Layer Masks to create some differing effects.

Semi team, with a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby. It'll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes, and it's got the expected connectivity: very little. There's a 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and optional 3G, as well as an accelerometer and a compass. There's also a keyboard dock, which connects underneath in the portrait orientation, support for up to 1024x768 VGA out and 480p composite out through new dock adapter cables, and a camera attachment kit that lets you import photos from your camera over USB or directly through an SD reader. The device is managed by iTunes, just like the iPhone -- you sync everything over to your Mac. "GooglePhone", the Nexus One has been officially unveiled by Google (in chagrin with HTC) at its much talked about Android Press Event earlier today.It is the first time Google has designed and sold its own consumer hardware device.The phone, termed by Google as a "superphone".

The unlocked Nexus One would set you back by a cool USD 529, (Rs.25,000) which seems to be a good price for the phone of this calibre. That by the way sure does not look like the price at which the Nexus One will arrive officially in India! That said, the current iteration of the phone does NOT support the 3G bands that will be operational in India (hopefully, this year). boot.com is a virus which attacks the hard drives & the hard drives could not be opened by double clicking. Most anti virus programs are unable to virus clean up and even if they do, in most cases they are unable to delete viruses, only quarantine it. Here are some steps which can help you out to remove boot.com virus from your hard drives.

In hard drives after enabling viewing hidden file u can see some autorun file & a file named boot.com which cannot be removed just by deleting.

Here’s the REAL way to clean this off your system.

You should do these steps after a rebooting computer in safe mode.

1) Navigate to the problem drive(s) via the Explore option.

2) Click on TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS

3) Click the button which says ‘Show hidden files and folders.

4) UNCHECK the following boxes

Hide extensions for known file types

Hide protected operating system files

5) Find and delete the autorun.ini file and the recycled folder on the root directory of all virus infected drives.

6) Check “c:\windows\system32\dllcache” for boot.com virus file and delete it if present.

7) Check “c:\windows\prefetch” for boot.com file and delete if present.

8) Delete all files from c:\windows\temp
(Some files may not delete, that’s OK, they’re in use by the system and not virus files.)

9) Delete all files from c:\Documents and Settings\[USER PROFILE]\Local Settings\Temp

11) Make sure you are at the very first entry of the registry hive.
(My Computer should be highlighted) then click EDIT - FIND

12) Search for “boot.com”. If it finds an entry, delete it. Keep hitting F3 until you’ve deleted all instances of boot.com in the entire registry.

13) Scroll the left column back up to the top and highlight the My Computer again at the top of the registry hive.

14) Click Edit - Find again and search for ‘recycled’ and repeat as in step 13, deleting the entries as it finds them.

15) Close registry editor and try opening the infected drives.

How to Speed up your PC by this simple Ram Memory tweak

Well this E Learning Tutorial or in other terms a Windows Tweak for the Techs. So… Faster Computer, first of all why a Faster Pc Performance?? Well its not a question of a Faster PC but this is more a question of when. If you’ve been running heavy Software Programs (maybe 3d video game, Photoshop, something like that) the RAM can get taken up quickly. Even when you close down these Computer Programs, Ram Memory can still be eaten-up.

You’ll notice this effect at the end of the day. When you first turn on your PC it’s running smoothly, by the end of the day slows down. Yes, you can get various Software Applications to solve this. May of which costs but when free things matters, here is how a simple Windows Tweak can work (in both XP and Vista)

1. Open up Windows Notepad (I use Notepad++, review coming soon)

2. Type in MYSTRING=(80000000)

3. Save the file as MEMORY.VBE (or RAM.VBE if you like…just remember the .VBE)

4. Make sure you save the file to your DESKTOP.

5. Just double-click the newly created file on your desktop whenever your PC seems to slow down. It will give your RAM a much needed Boost.

Not that if you have less than Ram Memory 128mb (do you really? If so then Oh! wake up you need a Memory Upgrade. (Ram Upgrading will make your PC a lot faster) change the 80000000 to 160000000 and it should work the same.

RAM Defrag is nice Freeware Software utility that frees up your RAM however it clears of all the injected DLL’s and the Cache so the Computer may get more sluggish for a while a Defrag.

Hard Drive Recovery Tips

The first and most firm rule of thumb for preventing a loss of your data is to do complete and regular Hard Drive Backups! This is also the rule that most people do not bother to follow. Today, with a multitude of options for backing up your hard drive there really is no excuse for not doing so. Cheap and affordable USB hard drives can act as redundant storage for your computer, making copies of your entire hard disc drive with the push of a button. A flash drive itself can be used as a backup medium for smaller amounts of personal files as well.

On a regular basis every computer owner should run the Scandisk utility that is included with your Windows installation. Right click on your hard drive's icon, select Properties, select the Tools tab, and click on Error Checking. This utility scans your hard drive for areas that have corrupted information. Such sectors of bad data are often a prelude to a looming hard drive failure. If bad sectors are found you should immediately back up your data and consider replacing the drive in the future.

If your hard disc drive has shown the final warning signs of failure and will not allow your computer to boot you have very few options.

• If possible, backup your most important data immediately.
• Disregard your program files and other software as it can be reinstalled from your original discs.
• Save the data that cannot be replaced first.

If the computer has stopped working or refuses to boot up turn the computer off, unplug it, open it up, and carefully remove the hard disc drive from the case. Place the hard drive in a zippered freezer bag, seal it tightly while pressing out as much air as possible, and THROW IT IN THE FREEZER.

Leave the hard drive in the freezer for 24 hours. In the meantime, go to a working computer and download a shareware copy of Hard Drive Mechanic and install the software onto a blank floppy disk.

The next day, reinstall the hard drive as quickly as possible, boot the computer from the floppy disk you copied the Hard Drive Mechanic to, and start it up. With luck, the drive may continue to work long enough for you to backup your files, but the Hard Drive Mechanic software is there to help you should there be no other option left.

Computer Data Recovery Safety Tips

If your system has "crashed" and you can no longer access the operating system or see the drive in the BIOS, then shut the system down immediately and do not run any further power through the drive by attempting reboots. This is considered a physical problem with the drive and is an extremely sensitive issue. If the head stack inside your drive has been damaged, you may cause further additional damage to the platter/s of the drive, upon which your data is stored.

If you have deleted a file or files or accidentally formatted your drive, then the most important thing to remember is to NOT write or install ANY new information onto that drive. Deleting files simply removes the locating tag of the file, but the file is still intact on the drive. If you add new data to the drive, you may over-write your lost data; losing it forever. Using advanced software or contacting Data Recovery Expert can re-assemble the binary code and restore your files.

If your partition has become corrupted, the most important thing to remember is NOT to attempt a re-install of your operating system or add new data to the drive. Again, contact Data Recovery Expert to use specialized software and techniques to repair the partition and/or extract your data.

If you have deleted a partition, do not attempt to restore it by formatting the drive as this will only result in the addition of an empty partition. It will not recover your data.

If you experience a single file corruption, be sure not to attempt creating a new file with the same name as this will partially over-write the file and will greatly decrease our ability to recover fully.

Though computers are widely used not many people know what to do in the event of a computer breakdown. How you handle your data recovery process will determine whether information is salvaged or permanently lost. This procedure should ONLY be attempted by a Data Recovery Specialist.

Virus Protections Trick

Don’t click on Ok , just choose ‘Cancel’. Open the Command Prompt by typing ‘cmd‘ in the run box. In the command prompt type the drive letter: and press enter . Now type dir /w/a and press enter.
This will display a list of the files in the pen drive. Check whether the following files are there or not

• Autorun.inf
• Ravmon.exe
• New Folder.exe
• svchost.exe
• Heap41a
• or any other exe file which may be suspicious.

If any of the above files are there, then probably the USB drive is infected. In command prompt type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter. This will remove the Read Only, Archive, System and hidden file attribute from all the files. Now just delete the files using the command del filename. example del Ravmon.exe. Delete all the files that are suspicious. To be on a safer side, just scan the USB drive with an anti virus program to check whether virus clean up is complete or not. Now remove the drive and plug it again. In most of the cases, the real culprit turns out to be the “Autorun.inf” file which mostly gets executed when someone clicks Ok in the dialog window which appears above. Thus the infections can spread

Security Tip

Disable the Autoplay feature of USB drives. If you disable the Autoplay feature of USB drives, then there are lesser chances of the virus spreading. A tool which can perform such a function is Tweak UI. Download it from here install it.

Run the program. Now you can disable the Autoplay feature of the removable drives as shown above. By following the above steps, you can keep your USB virus protected.

Steps (Backup the registry file)

1. This step is very important.
Export (right click Export) the following keys and save it to a safer place.

Increase Hard Disk speed in Windows

If you like to increase, optimize your Hard Disk IO - readwrite speed without buying expensive software utilities to do that job or changing the HD, just follow next steps. With doing these steps you will increase Hard disk speed (depends of manufacture and specification, but its worth to try). The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives; however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks.

In any case, it won't harm your system, so try it yourself and let me know what you find!

Steps

1. Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the start & then Run command.

2. Expand the system.ini file window.

3. Scroll down almost to the end of the file untill you find a line called [386enh].

4. Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type

5. Irq14=4096 (note This line IS CASE SENSITIVE)

6. Click on the File menu, then choose Save.

7. Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.

8. Restart windows!

The speed improvement will be noticed just after the system reboots, any system info. software can be used to check the improvement.

There is this small trick that you can use to find out what the truth is.

Firstly open your yahoo messenger main window and double click on the name of the person whom you want to check. The chat window will open obviously.

Click IMVironment button, select See all IMVironments, select Yahoo! Tools or Interactive Fun, and click on Doodle.

After loading the Doodle imvironment there can be two possibilities

1.If the user is offline Doodle are will show this waiting for your friend to load Doodle continuously .See in the picture below

2. If the user is online (but in invisible mode), after few seconds (it can take up to one minute, depending on your connection speed), you should get a blank page like in the picture below. So you know that the user is online.

Designer Tai Chiem has come out with the PSP 2 design. This concept comes with OLED display that can be rolled up when not in use. It features an electric charge powering the display, stereo speakers on either side double as a jog wheel and camera control. Nice work but I’m sure that it is not going to happen, for PSP I mean, could be useful for other devices maybe to come in that shape. More pictures after the break.

Sony just barely updated the PSP but designer Tai Chiem is already thinking about the next iteration. His design calls for a flexible OLED display that can be conveniently rolled. An electric charge powering the display stiffens it while providing near bezeless prime real estate for gaming. Stereo speakers on either side double as a jog wheel and camera control. Here is a quick tutorial on how to download files from Rapidshare simultaneously using Firefox. It is a simple operation; one must use a different proxy per download. Although it seems impossible to do on Internet Explorer, it is extremely simple with Firefox. Although this tip works, the downloads do slow down significantly when one downloads more than two files. Here are the quick steps:

1.Using the FireFox browser, download and install the SwitchProxy plug-in for FireFox.
2.Proceed to finding a free proxy server, I recommend the Steganos Proxies list.
3.Proceed to Rapidshare's download link and start the download. Do not use a download manager (No FlashGet), simply use FireFox's download manager by itself. (This is because Flashget uses your real IP, not the one loaded by the SwitchProxy plug-in)
4.Load the SwitchProxy plug-in and use one of the proxies. This does not interfere with your current download.
5.Proceed to a second Rapidshare download link. In most cases, it should begin a second download. However, if it reads an error (already downloading), then the selected proxy is still submitting your real IP to RapidShare. This may not be your fault, as some free proxies use your real IP.
6.If you get this error, simply try the next available proxy in the list.
7.To begin another download, repeats the steps using a new proxy in the list. This can be done an unlimited amount of times (or until you run out of working proxies).

Do you know that you can make your PC shutdown at a time u wish to?
Here is the trick! How To Make A Shutdown Timer!
Step 1:
Right click on your desktop and choose “New=>shortcuts“.
Step 2:
In the box that says “Type the location of the shortcut“,
type in “shutdown -s -t 3600” without the quotation marks and click next.
Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So , 60secs*60mins=3600secs.
Step 3:
Make up a name for the shortcut and you’re done.
You can change the icon by right clicking=>properities=>change icon=>browse.
To abort:
To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make the “location of the shortcut” to “ shutdown -a” without the quotes.
METHOD 2
Here is another trick to shutdown at a specific time, for example you wish to shutdown at 11:35am. Type this in

I read about this trick the other day over Internet.
Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT.
Navigate to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl].
If you see an entry by the name IRQ8Priority set it to a value "IRQ8Priority"=dword:00000001
if you don't then click on the right pane and add a new dword entry with given name.
IRQ8 is typically reserved for real time clock in most of the computers.
Make sure thats the case (by going to device manager -> system devices -> system COMS/realtime clock -> properties -> resources tab , if it is set to another number try adding an entry with that number N as IRQNPriority) . Generally realtime clock priority boosting helps most but you are free to try others as well.

How does it work?
Dragonflies are the mortal enemy for mosquitoes and in flight they generate sound frequencies (approximately) between 67 Hz and 45 Hz, depending on their sizes.

56 Hz is a good average number in between those frequencies. Your PC sound card and speakers will work well for this purpose. There are many sound and tone generator programs available on the internet for both the Mac and Windows PC. Setup your computer with the sound/tone generator program running and then play the sound through your computer speakers. The speakers can be aimed directionally for complete room coverage.

The sound level on the speakers should be adjusted so it is barely audible. This arrangement can be setup in a bedroom where you would like to have the window open but are worried about mosquitoes. One speaker should be fairly close to where you are sleeping.

Another cool thing would be to remix a Himesh track with Polefolder (imagine the ring modulation!). All this is easy today; there's even free software that can make you a good amateur DJ. This article is a small list of (very) elementary software available for mixing audio tracks, creating setlists, and of course, bobbing your head. Both Windows and Mac users have been kept in mind.
Basic GyaanBefore becoming a DJ, you need to be familiar with the concept of timing in a song. The unit used is BPM, which stands for beats per minute. It is pretty self-explanatory: the songs can divided into a particular number of beats per minute (for the sake of convenience) and thus essentially the DJ must match the BPMs of songs for them to play properly, or the rhythm will go awry.
Next is the key of the song, which can be explained simply as a group of pitches used in music. When mixing two tracks, their keys must be ideally the same, or related to each other. The good thing is our ears can detect any mess-ups in beats or keys, and an aspiring DJ must concentrate on developing a discerning ear.

Description: RichFLV is a free Adobe Air tool that performs a number of operations on FLV video files, including merging files, extracting sections from larger FLVs, exporting audio as FLV or MP3, converting to SWF, extracting individual frames to image files, and defining cue-points and metadata. Operations can be performed on the whole video or user-defined sub-sections.
If you’ve been looking for a tool that can work with FLV video (merge, cut, demux, edit) this may be the one you were waiting for. What is interesting about this tool, aside from being FLV-specific is that it can handle (read/write) FLV without the need to install any external codec packs on your system.
Here are some notes on what this Adobe Air application can do:

Merge FLV: do this by first opening a file then from the import menu select FLV (stitch) and select the next FLV in line. Save the combined file and repeat for any subsequent files (note: use a new filename everytime; do not save over a file you are merging). Unfortunately it does not seem possible to simply select multiple files simultaneously in one fell swoop.
Cutting sections from an FLV’s: this is extremely simple; all you have to do is define the inpoint and outpoints (by dragging and dropping these visually or from the keyframes section), and saving it from the "export" menu.
Export to audio or SWF: once you set the inpoint and outpoint, this can be perfomed from the export menu. Your audio file can be either in FLV format or MP3.
Cue points: you can define "cue points" on your video, and add informational "parameters" to these. These can be saved within the video itself or exported to XML files. Having said that, I am unsure as to what the usefulness of this is in practice (somebody please advise).
Performance: excellent. Saving and exporting is ultra fast. Metadata: you can define your own labels and values and store them in the video. Again, not sure why you would do that, as standalone players other than RichFLV do not seem to read or display the metadata.
Memory consumption: is completely out of whack in that it consumes way too much, depending on the size of the FLV file you are working with (e.g. was using 120 megs when editing a 6a0 meg video). This is due to this software being beta and the developer is aware of this and working on it. Let’s hope it improves with subsequent versions; in the meanwhile if you do not use RichFLV as your main FLV player and only launch it when you need it you should be OK.
Interface: warrants a mention. Very good looking, provides a nice user experience. The information and control panels can be minimized at will. Only criticism: no drag and drop support.
Keyframes section: seems to be there entirely for navigational purposes
Merging multiple FLVs at once: honestly with a program like this it should be possible to specify a number of FLVs, sort and/or organize them, and merge them all without having to go through the dance described in the "Merge FLV" section above.
Splitting an FLV: somewhat baffled that it is not possible to use the cue points I set to split the FLV. This program needs the addition of rules-based splitting (e.g. every 10 mins, x number of equal parts, etc.) as well as the option to use user defined cue point for splitting.

iDump is a godsend to iPod users who are frustrated with not having enough control over the media files on their iPods. Users of the iPod are inherently unable to copy and store music files between their iPod and different computers with iTunes. This handy iPod hack will allow users to copy songs from an iPod to a PC just as they would copy any other file. It works for all iPod models excluding the new iPod Touch and iPhone. Best Free Adware/Spyware/Scumware Remover

A couple of years ago most folks relied on "SpyBot Search and Destroy" and "Ad-Aware" for spyware protection. Alas, spyware has evolved so quickly that these once outstanding products are no longer up to the task of providing primary protection, although they remain useful as secondary on-demand scanners.
The new generation of malware requires a new generation of products which provide stronger active protection and broader spectrum detection. The best anti-spyware programs (WebRoot SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor and CounterSpy) are all commercial products, but there are three free products that we can recommend that provide real time protection.
The first is a special cut-down version of Spyware Doctor that's available as part of Google Pack, which is a bundle of free software offered by Google. Called "Spyware Doctor Starter Edition”, the cut-down version lacks the full array of real-time-protection monitors possessed by its commercial big brother, but it still offers some active protection along with full scan-and-remove capabilities, scheduled scans, and free signature file updates. And on the subject of signature files, it should be noted that the signature files in Spyware Doctor Starter Edition are neither as large nor as up-to-date as those in its commercial big brother.
Your second choice is Microsoft's Windows Defender. Defender is the latest reincarnation of the excellent Giant Anti-Spyware product that Microsoft purchased late in 2004. Based on my tests, Windows Defender is not as effective as its immediate predecessor, but it still has solid protective capability. I tested it on several drive-by download sites. Its multiple real-time monitors provided a reasonable (though by no means watertight) defense. It appears to be a little vulnerable to polymorphic malware in particular, and for this reason we suggest it should be used in combination with regular on-demand scans from the free AVG Anti-Spyware. Our other reservation about Windows Defender is that it consumes quite a lot of your processing power. If you have a modern PC this should not be a problem. However, older machines will definitely suffer a performance hit.
A third choice is Spyware Terminator. Unlike Spyware Doctor or Windows Defender, it works with all versions of Windows, so it's the stand-out choice for Windows 9x users. It's no slouch either. Like Windows Defender, it has strong active protection. Indeed, with it’s built in HIPS system that warns you of any unrecognized intruders, it has stronger protection against unknown threats than the Microsoft product. This was confirmed on some tests I ran on drive-by download sites where Spyware Terminator proved to be impregnable.
Spyware Terminator has its own spyware detection engine, and gives you the option of using a second engine based on the Open Source ClamWin anti-virus program. ClamAV is not the most effective AV scanner on the market, but it's certainly competent and the additional protection can only be a plus. On the downside, Spyware Terminator is slow to scan and can slow down your PC a tad, though not nearly as much as Windows Defender. We've also heard reports that support via their free forum is poor.
Choosing between Spyware Doctor Starter Edition, Windows Defender, and Spyware Terminator is not easy. The full commercial version of Spyware Doctor has outstanding detection, but the reduced signature file size and weak active protection in the free starter edition is a concern. Defender is heavy on resources but has reasonable active protection. Its detection, however, is mediocre.
As of today, we think that Spyware Terminator has the edge as the best balanced product of the three, but it's difficult to see how free products like this can remain viable, particularly in a high support product class such as anti-spyware.
However, if you use an anti-virus product with good, active protection, such as the free version of AntiVir, you may well be tempted to go with Spyware Doctor. It's a product which offers reasonably good detection and excellent removal capabilities, and it's backed by regular and reliable signature file updates. Note: Spyware Doctor Starter Edition can be obtained via the Google Pack, but you can get it as a stand-alone download.
If all you're looking for is a tool to scan for and remove spyware/adware, then you should definitely consider SUPERantispyware. Even though the free version provides only on-demand scans, it has a growing reputation as the one to use for detection and removal of hard-to-kill strains. It's also one of the few new products to be added to the well known Spywarewarrior trustworthy antispyware list.
Another product in the same mould (the free version provides only on-demand scanning) is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Although it's very new, it has a fine reputation because the organization behind it is well known for being a strong supporter of the fight against spyware, and has in the past released other excellent freeware tools like RogueRemover Free.
Threatfire is a respected and efficient active scanner for malware, and can considerably enhance the effectiveness of protection tools already installed. However, you should approach Threatfire with caution. My own experience is that the active scanner can be too aggressive and may block legitimate programs (or in some cases, components) installing. I particularly found this to be the case with ATI graphics drivers, where Threatfire refused to allow the Catalyst Control Centre to install. I encountered similar random problems with other program installations, although the majority of mainstream software did not suffer. If you need the enhanced and aggressive protection level that I've described, then Threatfire is a good option.
Finally, there is a simple option that very few people are aware of already built into Windows. I can only vouch for this in XP (and presumably Vista), though it may exist in earlier versions. Go to the start button and choose "Run". Once there, type "MRT" (without the quotes) and press enter. This will load Windows built in Malicious Software Removal Tool. It isn't even close to dedicated malware removal tools, but since it's a part of the OS already, it certainly qualifies as free software.
